John Arthur Junior
University of Ghana
Profile
John Arthur Junior is a current student at the University of Ghana. He serves as Secretary for Union Development at the National Union of Ghana Students, the government-recognised national student representative body in Ghana established by an Act of Parliament. At that level, his work sits at the intersection of student governance and national education policy, affecting students across every university in the country. He is the only current University of Ghana student on the NUGS national executive. He is also President of the Harakati Za Muungano University of Ghana Chapter, launched in March 2026 with a campus sensitisation walk.
Why they were listed
John Arthur Junior is a University of Ghana student who holds the position of Secretary for Union Development at the National Union of Ghana Students, a statutory national body. Reaching that level of responsibility as a current student is uncommon, and he is currently the only UG student serving on the national executive. In May 2026, his office reached BECE candidates in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem district of the Central Region, equipping each with a mathematical set and pen, support for students years away from university. On campus, he leads the newly launched UG chapter of Harakati Za Muungano, a youth movement centred on leadership for political, economic, and social transformation. Peers who have interacted with him consistently describe him as principled, grounded in his faith, and genuinely invested in the people around him, someone known for encouraging others to become better versions of themselves. His reputation for advocacy and goodwill is not self-proclaimed. It is what others say when asked about him.
