Al-Waasiu Abubakari hails from Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana and attended Lassia-Tuolu Senior High School. He enrolled at the University of Ghana in 2021 to study Computer Engineering, a field he entered without prior experience but with a strong foundation in mathematics and physics. During his time at UG he interned with the university's IT Directorate, Trestle Academy, and Africa to Silicon Valley, a Google-backed programme where he served as Head of Education. He is an NSMQ alumnus and received the Muslim Intellectuals Network Award for Best Graduating Muslim Male Student in the Upper West Region on the same day he gained admission to UG. He is passionate about community service and mentoring young learners and is currently on national service with the Department of Computer Engineering at UG.

Al-Waasiu Abubakari graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Engineering with a Final Grade Point Average of 3.97 and was named Valedictorian of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences at the February 2025 Congregation. He received five awards at the Vice-Chancellor's Academic Awards ceremony including Best Graduating Student in Computer Engineering, Best Graduating Student in Engineering, Best Project Work in Computer Engineering, and Overall Best Graduating Male Student in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences.
